1880's Bustle Dress Back by Opergeist 1880's Bustle Dress Back by Opergeist
The final Product of my Costume Production Class. The assignment was to faithfully reproduce an existing 19th century garment in comparable modern fabrics.

So, I decided that this would be a prime opportunity to create an entire look for my lovely girlfriend Re to be worn at DragonCon 2009 as my übergoth Christine.

The bodice, hat and dress itself is made of shadowstriped satin trimmed in hand pleated tartan striped red taffeta with a cotton leopard print lining (not pictured).

Distance prohibited her appearing in this Photoshoot, so my lovely model is Laurel Schultz, a fabulous fellow costume designer and Victorian Goth for a day.

Seriously, every picture I see of this dress just makes me love it even more!! :D You have some serious skills to be able to reproduce a period dress so beautifully (and even add a more modern touch like leopard print lining, lol!).

Thank you very much! It was certainly a daunting project, but it pays off every time I see my girl wear it.

Thanks very much! I really love this one. The skirt will be seen at the Steampunk World's Fair this year.

Awesome! Where does that take place? I'm guessing it's far away from NJ since everything awesome is far away from me :(
